IT Services Fee Issue

Dear all,

Good day! For your information, the IT Services Fee for Malacca campus has been reduced to RM 50 (for non-hostel residents) and RM 75 (for hostel residents). Besides this, the bandwidth will be increased to 100Mbps for Malacca campus, an increament from the initially announced 34Mbps. As for Cyberjaya campus, the bandwidth will be higher, at 150Mbps. Therefore, they will be paying RM 75 (non-hostel residents) and RM 100 (hostel residents).

The compilation which consists of official letters from SRC, presidents of component societies, petition, online petition, suggestions, unfiltered printout of the comments in SRC Blog, etc had been presented to the President's Office.

FYI, the SRC has been dissolved but we still welcome comments and feedback on this issue, and hopefully we can negotiate further. Other issues are welcome too.

Before signing off, we would like to once again thank all who supported us in everything, especially to oppose the imposition of IT fees, and some other issues regarding to welfare of the students. It was really nice working with all of you and all your contributions certainly made an impact for the betterment of students' welfare in the university!

Thank you and all the best!

I'm still unsatisfied, the lecturers and staff also using the online system and MMLS and also the IT services in MMU, how come they are not charged? The explaination during the dialog with that 'Baldy' also not solid! Why they need the money now? I think it is still no different if they upgrade the bandwidth and still block most of the sites? Rapidshare, megaupload and p2p sites are totally blocked... so what the f?

yup, i am still not agree with the charges as the services given is extremely in unsatisfactory. but then , i am glad that SRC melaka was really put their effort , trying very hard to oppose that. thanks ! i do not know why not many students did not turn up for the meeting with president on last wednesday (9/7/2008). sad case. maybe they are busy attending their classes ??? i think students in mmu melaka should wake up and make themselves aware on this and fight for it. depending on SRC alone is not enough ! better services and faicilities of the university should be revived!

I know why most students did not turn up at that particular time. The president is so stupid because arranging the dialog at that particular time. Most students have morning classes and perhaps some still sleeping in their bed, the dialog should be held at night. However, I really could see the afford from SRC Melacca in order to abolish this ridiculous fees. Thanks a lot SRC Melacca. By the way, I did not hear anything from SRC Cyberjaya? Are cyberjaya students have been brain-washed by that baldy or what? Well, at the end of the day, that baldy will still gonna impose that stupid fee even though SRC and the students disagree... Well, I honestly thing it is better not to upgrade the broadband system. If for MMLS system, I would rather asked directly from my lecturer for the notes. For course registration, I would gladly make a fuss lining up at ERU for registration... I still don't understand why the f they want to upgrade the bandwidth? Better services? Bullshit of course!

thx to SRC because putting all the effort in this issue. Although the fee have been reduce to 50, but i still not satisfy with it. Why we have to pay the 50??? From the beginning they already plan to charge 50, just because they know will get complain from SRC, so they charge 100. This is their tactic same with the library fee 1 year ago. In fact, upgrade facilities is MMU responsibilities, if they need to have extra charges just can do so, they should have an open discussion before they do it, shud not do it 1st b4 they ask, then jz inform that will charge IT fee. This is not fair to all of us.

MMU charging IT fees is as ridiculous an idea as UNITEN charging their students electricity fees.

MMU is a government university... that baldy is lying!!! He said that, "Kita bukan universiti kerajaan, kita universiti swasta, tak ada subsidi dari kerajaan...Go to this site--http://www.gov.my/MYGOV/BI/Directory/Citizen/Education/HigherEducation/ListofUniversityandCollege/

Tak mungkin kerajaan bodoh nak letak MMU as the 1st University listed in their list...Nampak sangat botak penipu!

We, at Cyber campus fought hard. The prez just had to leave right before 5pm telling us he had to attend another meeting when there were so many people queuing at that time to ask questions. He got BOO-ed as he walked away from us.

He was busy sms-ing all the time and didn't not look into the student's face whenever they asked him questions. We intended to keep him at the FIT Atrium as long as we could, but he just took off..
