Therefore, as one of the MMU community, let us try our best to assist Maxwell Onyema Ezeala and please give some donation as to ease thier burden.

Below are the details about our donation drive :-

Due to inadequate fund to support Mr. Maxwell’s medical fees, SRC organized another fund raising campaign to help Mr. Maxwell raise money for his medical fees. The fund raising was held in conjunction with the CyberP week in President Square.

SRC was strongly supported by all parties, including CyberP management team, STAD, ISS, ex-OCs, volunteers and students who donated. We managed to collect an amount of RM1020.28 from the fund raising campaign.

However, he is still short of a large amount of money. SRC approached ISSU to discuss about the method to reach the Nigerian embassy. Besides, we are still looking for sponsors from the private sectors.

Complaint Collection & Rakan Exco Recruitment

From 10 December 2007 till 14 December 2007 the Students’ Welfare Division(SWD) of the SRC had set up a booth at Plaza Siswa. The booth was set up to enable students to submit their complaints regarding any issues, departments, clubs/societies, individuals, etc to the SRC excos manning the booth. During this period, recruitment for Rakan Excos was also carried out. Rakan Excos are MMU students who would assist SRC excos in various tasks.

Throughout the 4 days period that the booth was set up, many complaints were received.

Some of the complaints are:

  1. SAPS points – SAPS point not updated in time.
  2. Chinese New Year holidays – Only 1 day of holiday given.
  3. Wild dogs in Taman Dahlia – Dangerous to walk on the road as the dogs often chase pedestrians.
  4. Bird droppings around hostel area – Very smelly. Hygienic problems to residents.
  5. Lack of shaded path between FSER and library, car park and CLC Concourse, CLC Concourse and Law School.
  6. Accommodation issue – A lot of complaints regarding the utility fees of IXORA.
  7. Car Park – Insufficient parking spaces.
  8. Insurance – Beta year and above not covered comprehensively for local students.
  9. Security – To request for CCTV and more lighting around campus.
  10. Refund policy – To get explanation about this policy.

SWD excos collected and sorted these complaints and later took the appropriate measures to deal with issues raised in the complaints. Some of the issues had already been settled as evidenced by these bulletins:

  1. Update on issue of PTPTN loan holders being barred!
  2. Update on Exam Slip Issue
  3. Chinese New Year Holidays 2008
  4. Complaints forwarded to Facilities Management Division (FMD)

SRC would like to thank all students who came forward to voice their complaints.

We also kindly request you to be patient and give us a little bit of time as we take the appropriate measures to solve all problems that you are facing as soon as possible.

SRC High Committee

By L. Puvaneswaren

The newly established high committee of the SRC council session 2007/08 of Malacca campus has many exciting agendas stalled for not only their excos but for the university particularly clubs and students as well. With 3 former presidents of clubs and societies heading the high committee for the first time ever the SRC has been given a high expectations and mandate to deliver especially in the matters concerning students and clubs welfare and rights.

SRC High Committee

The three are not other than the current SRC President, Mohd Hamdan Bin Mohd Sharif who previously headed Institusi Usrah (IU), the Treasurer General, Tang Lee Hong who headed one of the biggest clubs in MMU which is none other than the Chinese Language Society (CLS) and L.Puvaneswaren who was the President of the Indian Cultural Society (ICS) for 2 consecutive years before joining the SRC last year and now holds a double portfolio of Public Relations Officer and Chairperson of Clubs and Societies Management Division (CSMD).

The other 4 high committee have also established themselves as experienced leaders. Khairol Khalid, Vice-President 1 of the SRC this year was the Deputy President in the SRC for the last academic term. Wong Teck Chee, the current Vice-President 2 was one of the Vice Presidents of the Chinese Language Society, while Azril Hanafi, Secretary General, coming of the rank of Institusi Usrah as a Secretary General as well with his deputy, Nurul Ain, being a Treasurer at the Silat Cekak Ustaz Hanafi.

The Administrative Officer, Jess (Yeong Khar Mun), deserves a special mention as although she is an Alpha student she can efficiently handle any tasks given to her.

With such capable leadership heading the SRC it is hoped that the SRC movement will be more efficient and smooth to ensure that the students and clubs rights and welfare a well taken care of in Multimedia University (Malacca campus).
